The very first time I came across the name Fortune IAS Academy is when a friend handed me a pamphlet telling about FortunesPrelims Test Series [PTS]in 2016. When I saw that the first 2 mock test are free I decided to give it a try. The test was a pretty tough one and it was a wake-up call for me. I thought my reading and self-study was well in alignment with what UPSC asks for CSE but, I was surprised after this test as I was not able find the correct answers to many question from areas which I thought to be my strong points.

I could also see how knowledgeable the faculty of Fortune IAS was. The free discussions took some time because they were not just discussing answers, but were giving out so much information relating to each question. I decided to join the Prelims Test Series [PTS] but could not do so as I had to go home due to some personal emergencies. Then I again came to Fortune for their comprehensive tests included inPTSjust before Prelims. The feedback I got after writing each test made me optimize my approach towards UPSC CSE Prelims.

Fortune IAS allowed me to use theirreading roomto prepare for Prelims even though I did not join any regular course there before this. This also helped in preparing for Prelims as I got a quiet place to read.

I managed to get a very good score in Prelims and I knew I was through right after checking Fortunes answer key along with other keys. After the initial joy of knowing that I will be through Prelims, a hard realization struck me.I didnt practice anything for mains. Literally nothing!!

Though I was familiar with mains syllabus I was yet to write any answers for mains. I was nowhere with my optional and I didnt even have a clue about what GS 4 was all about!!

I told my situation to the people at Fortune IAS and they told me that they would surely help me. I joinedFortune IAS Mains classesas well as theirMains Test Series [MTS].This was one of the best choices I made during my CSE preparations. I got all the relevant knowledge from Mains classes and Mains Test Series [MTS] refined my writing skills. I have to admit that Im not very good at giving descriptive answers butMTShelped me improve it. They helped me with my answer writing at Macro and Micro levels.

Thelast round of MTS, where the exam was held exactly as model UPSC Mains time table was energy draining but it was a good practice for me as I got an idea of how difficult it was going to be in the actual UPSC Mains exam. The practice I got from Fortune IASs mains classes and MTS helped me attempt each question in Mains and for the first time I wrote for the whole 1750 marks.

Another help Fortune IAS Academy did was organizingDAF (Detailed Application Form)filling session. It helped me avoid many mistakes that I wouldve done if I didDAFmyself without any help. Also, thepeer groupsI got from there helped me getting better ideas and view points during my preparation.

Finally, the mains result came and I got the call forCSE Interview. Again, Fortune IAS helped me to prepare in the best way possible. They madedetailed analysis of my DAFand pointed out the areas in which I must pay attention to. The general topic discussion for Interview helped me in preparing for Current Affairs topics. TheMock Interview PanelsFortune IAS provided were the best I attended.

Overall, I found the Institute and people over there to be very helpful. I got honest comments throughout my time there. I was criticized for my mistakes and was given credit when it was due. In my opinion that is the kind of attitude an Institute should have for their students.

For TLDR people: Could I make it to the final CSE rank list without Fortune IAS? Maybe, but at least not in CSE 2016.

Did you make it to CSE 2016 final rank list because of Fortune IASs help? Yes.
